GOOD OL BOYS ARE CHAMPIONS!

The January – March Council Bluffs League has come to an end and the new Champions, Good Ol’ Boys, went undefeated 10 – 0 with 155 points. During the six week league they had two teams that did not show. One team misread the schedule and the other team was too intimidated to show up for the game. The Good Ol’ Boys took over the number 1 spot on the Iowa Dodgeball Rankings with 155 points.

Coming in second place was the team Average Pros. Team Captain, Adam Carpenter had a team by the name of Dirt Devils that did not win a single game in the last league in Council Bluffs, however in the January – March C.B. League he made some major changes. Those changes included players and team name. Adam changed his team name to Average Pros. They finished this league with a 9 – 3 with 32 points, giving them second place.

On a serious note, the Iowa Dodgeball Association would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and teammates of Aaron Hicks. Aaron played on the Stumbling Ballers team. His cheerful attitude and competitive spirit will be deeply missed on the Dodgeball court. Please keep Aaron, his family, friends and teammates in your thoughts and prayers.

The Tournament scheduled for March 22 is still in limbo. We need at least 8 teams for the tournament to go on as scheduled. Currently we have two 2 teams. If we do not get enough teams to sign-up, we will have a tournament in August.

All the teams had a lot of fun during the league, even though we had some issues with the gym. The next league will be outside on a tennis court. This is set to be an exciting league and the return to a best of 7 formats. Some rule changes are being looked into for the next league. The next league sign up is going on now though April and is scheduled to start in May. The league will have two (2) divisions a Recreation and Power. We hope to see all the teams return and new ones to get involved.

MARCH 3 LEAGUE NIGHT CANCELED

March 3 League night has been canceled due to a school event. All school events take priority over all rentals.

This won't happen in the next league. The next league will be outside in a tennis court. More details coming soon.

Week 5 Recap

Bad weather did not stop the Council Bluffs Dodgeball League. The Council Bluffs Dodgeball League was back in action after a two week break. “Considering the bad weather, I was amazed that all teams were able to make it. It really shows just how much fun people have”, stated Mark Pendgraft (Iowa Dodgeball Association Commissioner).

Good Ol’ Boys remain undefeated and look unbeatable. This week, week 5, Good Ol’ Boys beat last league champions the Warriors. The first match Good Ol’ Boys swept the Warriors, and in the second match the Good Ol’ Boys let the Warriors win a game but not the match. Next on the schedule for Good Ol’ Boys is the second place team Ballz of Fury. Ballz of Fury are currently in first place on the Iowa Dodgeball Association Rankings.

Average Pros are not out of the hunt, they are third on the standings, they too will need to sweep their remaining games to have a chance.

The big movers are Cracker Shrapnel, they are on a move up words. Week 5, match 9, they lost the first two games and they had to win the next three to win the first match. Down 2-0 Cracker Shrapnel came back and won the next three games to win the first match. That did not stop them in match 10, as they swept the match. They are now on a three (3) match win streak. Moving them off the bottom and moving up the standings.

Next week, Week 6, will be “Team Photo Night”.

Tournament signup deadline is March 14.

Week 4 Recap

One of the biggest news would have to be that Cracker Shrapnel won a game! The league leaders Good Ol’ Boys had a bye, however Ballz of Fury swept the games against the Dodgers to put them just 1 game out.

Stop Resisting lost both games to Ballbusters, but Stop Resisting still remain only 1 game out of first. The biggest surprise has to be Average Pros, they are only 1 game out from first place. Some players on the Average Pros were on a team from the last league, that did not win a game.

Ballbusters are on a 4 game winning streak. If they continue on this path they will be a huge contender.

The I.D.A. is looking to change the Blue Line Rule. This Rule change will be in effect in the next league, possibly the tournament. We will inform all teams at the next Dodgeball League.

I.D.A. Rankings still have Ballz of Fury on top but the Warriors are not out of reach.

The next two weeks we will not have any Dodgeball, the Rue Gym is unavailable. Many players have let us know that the Rue Gym is too small. We have been in contact with the C.B. Schools and the next indoor league will be at the big gym at Kirn.

Remember that the deadline for the March 22 Tournament is on March 14.

Week 3 Recap

Week 3 is in the book. The first match up was between the last leagues Champions, Warriors went up against new comers Dodgers. They would split the games 1 – 1 and this was the Dodgers first win in the league. As the league continues you can bet they will get better. The Champions are sitting in 4th place, but there is a lot of league left to play.

The second match up was between Stumbling Ballers and Cheese of Darkness. Stumbling Ballers would sweep this match up. Winning 2 – 0 and earning 6 points. Winning both games put Stumbling Ballers in 3rd place.

The third match up was between Stop Resisting and CBPD. During the last game in match 2, Stop Resisting had 3 players remaining while CBPD had 1 players remaining. Neither team was making a play, all players had a ball in their hands. Referee called 5 seconds. Neither team through the ball in 5 seconds. This caused Stop Resisting to lose a player giving them 2 and CBPD lost the only player remaining, causing them to lose the match. From that point forward team CBPD thought they could call the 5 second rule, when in fact it is up to the Referee when to call the 5 second rule. The 5 second rule is put into place to keep the game going. At the end of it all it was Stop Resisting winning both matches. 2 – 0 and earning 10 points. Stop Resisting is in 2nd place and look very strong.

The fourth match up was between Average Pros and Ballz of Fury. This game has been talked about for the last week. Both teams are just about equal when it comes to talent on each team. In the first game Average Pros won the first match, then Ballz of Fury won the next two. Average Pros needed to win the next two matches to win the game and that is just what they did. Average Pros won the first game. However they did not carry the momentum into the second game. The first match of the second game went all the way down to 5 seconds, with Ballz of Fury winning. They would win the next match easily, but Average Pros would not quit. They came back to win the third match with only 17 seconds remaining. However Ballz of Fury won the 4 match to win the second game. Both teams would split the games 1 – 1 with Ballz of Fury earning 3 points.

The fifth and final match up was between current league leaders, Good Ol’ Boys and new comers Cracker Shrapnel. Good Ol’ Boys would sweep the first game, but in the second game Cracker Shrapnel would win the first match. I think winning a match not only caught Good Ol’ Boys off guard but I think it caught Cracker Shrapnel off guard. Cracker Shrapnel would not win another match. Good Ol’ Boys won both games and earned 22 points. Good Ol’ Boys remain unbeatable; however they have not played a team that is above .500. They will have next week bye and then their schedule becomes tougher.

2nd Week of C.B. League

The 2nd week of the Council Bluffs League had a lot of excitement. However the games will have to go to best of 5 instead of best of 7. We only have the gym from 6:00pm to 9:30pm. One point on Monday we got behind 30min. To make sure everyone can play we will be going best of 5, but we will keep the double headers. Moving the games to the best of 5 will also give teams time to warm up.

This league is bigger than anticipated. Plans are in the works to be in a bigger gym, like “Kirn” for the next indoor league. The May league will be played outdoors.

RECORD TURNOUT FOR CB DODGEBALL LEAGUE

The Dodgeball League in Council Bluffs is GROWNING!!

The Jan. – Mar. League in Council Bluffs has a record 11 teams! The schedule put out on Friday 11/11/08 only shows 10, but the 11th team was added after the schedule was put out. The first week 11/14/08 will not be affected and new schedules will be online Monday. You can also get a new schedule at the Monday League.

The team profiles are now updated. Some teams only show the Managers. Those teams will be turning in the rosters on Monday. Once the rosters are turned in the team profiles will be updated on the website.
